DESCRIPTION: Grafton mantel clock, in the style of Simon Willard, c1900, two days, time only, weight driven movement in a mahogany veneer case with convex solid brass silvered dial signed Simon Willard. James Conlin of Boston reproduced these 30 hours Willard, Grafton wall clocks about 1910 and is a good candidate for attribution.
CONDITION: the case and movement of this late 19th century reproduction Simon Willard Grafton mantel clock were made to similar specifications as those pictured in Brooks Palmer's "The Book of American Clocks" figures 106 - 111. This includes the unusual feature of no suspension spring for the pendulum. The period lead weight is wafer thin. Ht 22 1/2"
